4/11/10: I bought my father's car this year; the beauty of toe prints on the windshield is in leaving them there.
4/12/10: We've been friends for a year and tonight I got your best hug, and asked if you were on drugs.
4/13/10: Follow me, please, because if you're coming along there's nothing to leave.

Learn From Each Other (Cultural Tid Bits That Make Me Say, "YES!")
"In the Babemba tribe of South America, when a person acts irresponsibly or unjustly, he is placed in the center of the village, alone and unfettered. All work ceases, and every, woman, and child in the village gaters in a large circle around the accused individual. Then each person in the tribe speaks to the accused, one at a time, about all the good things the person in the center of the circle has done in his lifetime. Every incident, every experience that can be recalled with any detal and accuracy is recounted. All his positive attributes, good deeds, strengths and kindnesses are recited carefully and at length. The tribal ceremony often lasts several days. At the end, the tribal circle is broken, a joyous celebration takes place, and the person is symbolically and literally welcomed back into the tribe." ~ printed in Alice Walker's We Are the Ones We Have Been Waiting For
Puny Poetry
I. Our First Time
We road tripped to new lives - together
Unsteady
On the highway
In the high winds
Whinneying
Space between
Windows and their
Worn seals,
Keeping our silence
Secret
II. Talking About Religion
The athiest said
True love
IS his God;
Now
I know
I don't believe in it.
III. Studio Apartment
In Lia Jade's
Slick hardwood
Kitchen,
On the floor
In the dark
I think more than I write
A one-woman sit-in
My first night in Boston.
We road tripped to new lives - together
Unsteady
On the highway
In the high winds
Whinneying
Space between
Windows and their
Worn seals,
Keeping our silence
Secret
